50's style sunglasses now in store at Wild Fire Piercing, Canal Walk!

I have a fascination of times gone by - in particular the 50's and am always on the quest for the perfect pair of vintage looking sunglasses. Lucky enough for us Tom Ford designed "Nikita" the most beautiful pair of classic black cat's eye sunglasses (below) in his last collection which we are already beginning to see filter down to a more "commercial level" at stores - now I just need to save some cash to get my hand on a pair!

"Nikita" by Tom ford (above & below)
So...for those of us without a huge budget (and designer taste!) I have managed to source two awesome styles (below) for you which are now available at

Canal Walk,
Shop 478A - near Entrance 8

Durban seems to be full of exciting surprises as it turns out....
I was very busy last week-end with an awesome order to make 45 white orchid hair clips

We managed to source some amazing silk orchids from a local supplier and within two days
the bride-to be got her flowers...always nice to have a happy customer!

with the big day Simone, we wish you all the best!

Welcome to Durban

After woblly start I boarded a Mongo flight after having to pay a wopping R200 for overweight baggage - gotta love Mango - so much for cheap flights! They make up for it with the overweight luggage policy so be aware!

So a little irritable at the beginning of my flight I eventually settled down to begin reading my new book by Charlene Harris - Grave Sight (the same author as the True Blood series) which so far I am enjoying. All in all, it was an easy and quick flight and  I was happy to land in balmy Durban 2 hours later.

Thursday evening we made our way to the May Night Market which was held The Quays. Now remember I haven't been to this area in years so seeing all the restoration of the beautiful victorian building at the point was just great!

I must say, when you compare the night market to our awesome markets  in Cape Town like the biscuit mill and the stellenbosch fresh goods the little Durban Night market looks (unfortunatly for them) tame and rather empty. On the upside I did however buy some delicious goodies to take back as prezzies to my Cape Town honey....

The Martinnaise does a range of delicious Mayonnaise are super tasty too - with flavours such as Wasabi Mayo garlic mayo, mustard mayo and peri-peri mayo you can't go wrong. The great thing with this range is that they are all preservative & chemical free. I cannot wait to try mine as a dip with some home-made crispy fries...oooh! my mouth is already watering!!

Also bought some Chilli chutney from Nicky's Preserve for my man who absolutly loves anything spicey or chilli! But being the scardy pants I am I didn't try it, so will have to let you know how that one tastes - but I must just add that it looked HOT!!

 Till next time folks!

It's a bug's life!

Went to a friends daughter's 2nd birthday party yesterday. Kerry layed out a fantastic spread, and being the creative chief that she is she baked the lady bug cake and some cute mini cupcakes with butterflies and more bugs! so creative! we even had delicious butterfly chocolates and who couldn't forget Boudoir biscuits and sour worms - talk about a blast from our childhood!

I chose to celebrate the day with my new Miss Happ cupcake dress - never one to miss a moment I thought I fitted in just perfectly!

Dave Ferguson farewell with Them Tornados and Peachy Keen

Saturday night was the farewell party for Dave Ferguson who is sadly leaving us for Italy. Peachy Keen opened the evening with their rockin' tunes and got the crowd going - of course they Peachy Keen girls looked great in their Miss Happ dresses (I wore one of my new hawaiian printed swing dresses - soon to be part of our Summer 2011/12 range - keep a look out of our summer launch soon!). Dave played next and had the whole venue dancing and feet tapping to his americana blues tunes. Them Tornados ended off the evening with their signature rockabilly sound - and when Dave joined them on stage it was electric!

A total mixed crowd (it was at the Harley Davidson Club) so between the bikers and the odd rockabilly boy and girl it was a great evening with awesome music. SA is going to miss you Dave Ferguson!
